Real-Time Search and Hash Tags Support: New Google+ Features

Real-Time Search and Hash Tags Support: New Google+ Features

Google engineer Vic Gundotra announced two new features added to Google+ – real-time search and hash tag support.

When doing a search in Google+, it will display on the results page what it thinks is the “best” answer to your query. However, you might be interested on the most recently posted items.

If you will just wait for a while, whenever a new post comes in related to your searched term you will see a notification just above the results page.

Clicking on the said message, or selecting “Most recent”, will make relevant posts appear in real-time. This feature is very useful in a variety of situations, say if you are monitoring people’s reactions especially on an ongoing event.

You can also opt to Pause/Play the search results.

Adding a hash tag before a word would automatically turn that term into a link pointing to a search page for that word.
