About two-thirds (67%) of mobile users in the UK follow brands on Twitter, with 25% of them following more than 10 brands, according to a new study examining how and where UK users interact with the social-networking site.
The data presented in a Twitter Infographic and gathered in partnership with Compete revealed that 50% of mobile users follow a brand for customer service and 45% are likely to recommend the brand that they follow, which highlights the importance for brands to use device targeting strategies to better interact with customers.
A total of 80% of the 10 million-plus UK users of Twitter access the site via a mobile device, with mobile users being 40% more likely than the average user to access Twitter more than once a day, the study found.
Mobile users actively engage on Twitter throughout the day. One in four mobile users reach for the platform whilst shopping, one in three use it on the move, 66% use it on a second screen at home (while watching TV) and 50% use the site at bedtime, the survey showed.
Retweeting a Tweet is what mobile users (43%) often do on the site, with 31% using it to Tweet a photo, according to the findings.
