Social Media trends come and go but there is one current trend that is turning everyone’s Facebook profile pictures into long-necked, loveable creatures. Why giraffes, you ask? Well it’s the forfeit that people have to take if they answer the giraffe riddle wrong.
Warning if you don’t want to know the answer to the riddle then stop reading. If you do, then by all means read on!
The giraffe riddle has been seen on Facebook for the last month or so and it’s as follows –
“It’s 3 a.m., the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors! It’s your parents and they are here for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?”
People will post it on their status and then their friends will reply in a private message, and if they’re wrong, they will have to change their picture to a giraffe for a week. The answer’s easy right? Well apparently not, since so many people are changing their pictures. Many people will not think the riddle through and answer the question with one of the items on the list. Wrong, the actual answer is –
The Door…
However, there are some conflicting ideas when it comes to this answer. Many people won’t accept the door as the correct answer, but “your eyes” as the true right answer. This is wrong, the riddle doesn’t state whether or not you’re asleep, so you can only assume that you’re awake.
With that, make sure that you answer “the door” whenever you’re answering the giraffe riddle. If someone tells you that you’re wrong, simply enjoy keeping your own profile picture and knowing that in your heart, you were right and they were wrong.
At the end of the day, there are many different ways to interpret the giraffe riddle, and everyone thinks in some form or another that their answer is correct, but it’s all good fun.
